What a 'con!

New York Comic Con was some of the best times I've had in the big city. The sheer amount of enthusiasm for everything being shown and sold totally floored me. Every single person in attendence (whether it was the con itself or the shows/parties at night) were there to have a good time and because they literally loved what they were there to check out. The vibe was awesome! But enough of the love fest, here are the top stories of the weekend.

- ESC Toys knew the score with their new Old Skool Kaiju line. These looked great.

- Kaiju Invades NYC rocked the Showroom's doors off.

- Marvel and DC are getting ready to go head to head with their summer cross overs.

- Big Shot Toy Work's Bertie had everyone talking... seriously. Everyone.

- MAD's show reminded everyone why they love the MAD*Ls.

- Shawnimals' Plush Form breaks out with the first DIY plush!

- Toys like Tobor and Exellis prove that where there is a will, there is a way. Rock on, guys!

- Cosplay characters take their craft seriously. I took a dude's pic, said "Nice costume!" and he replied, "It's not a costume." Nice.

The show was twice as big as last year's and judging by the crowd, I'd say it's safe to say next year will be bigger. At least we hope the Designer Toy aisle is. Wow, that was crowded!
None of our coverage could have been possible without our gracious sponsors.
Freebento.com is the place to hit for off the wall Japanese toys and there are plenty of Designer toys to be had too! Check it out! http://www.freebento.com/
Kaiju Big Battel is the most amazing live show that my eyes have seen. Truly controlled chaos. http://www.kaiju.com/
Fun1 Designer Toys is that store that we all think is "our little secret". Good toys, honest prices, and great people. Now everyone knows! http://my-store-at.fun1designertoycollecting.com/

Kaiju Invades NYC!!

Saturday night was a wild night full of cool cats (and kitties), free booze, and of course some of the most amazing customs ever! Kaiju Invades NYC hit the Showroom and after we stood in line and recieved our purchasing tickets (to keep things orderly and fair) the first thirty people were let in. Then all our jaws hit the floor. Just check out some of these amazing pieces!

All the pieces are in our gallery: http://www.millionaireplayboy.com/images/nycc08/index.php

All that AND a sweet mask we could wear! The after party at LIT was rockin' too with DJ Alphabeast on the scene. Pics omitted to protect the innocent.

NYCC again!

Saturday and Sunday blurred together in a mash of cosplay, vinyl, comics, and LOTS of crowds. Sorry we didn't get two seperate posts up about the last two days, but I'll try to cover the highlights.

First off, we were so pleased to have a chance to sit down and talk with Shawn Smith of Shawnimals. He is such a nice fella, and I'm a huge fan of his work. Podcast of that coming soon! To hold you over, check out the pieces from the Plush Form show they had at their booth.

Secondly, we stood in line and scored the TMNT exclusive box set from NECA... then stood in line again and had it signed! Totally worth it (even if the loudest guy in the world was behind us). Stinkhead just put up his review today. Look at these beauties!

Here's a link to the full article: http://www.millionaireplayboy.com/toys/nycctmnt.php

Saturday night we hit the Kaiju Invades NYC show, but that deserves its own post.... coming soon!!!

Be sure to check back to our gallery. LOTS of new pictures!! http://www.millionaireplayboy.com/images/nycc08/index.php
Two more posts coming, and Skip and my "official" thoughts too! Thanks for looking.

NYCC Day 1

It was a great first day at NYCC. The Designer Toys were definitely a hot spot. It was totally packed from the time the show opened until the end of the day. Signings, exclusives, and a dj at the mimoco booth really made for a good time.

Some quick highlights:
- ESC toys' Old Skook Kaiju debuted their first toy, Dezign and it's looking hot.

- Mindstyle's booth was rocking with Dok A's mini figure line on display as well as Kathy O's.

- BigShotToyworks had 6 Berties available through a raffle system. (more on this guy and other toys from Klim and the gang tommorrow).

- Lots of comics, cosplay, and fun!!

Check out our ever-growing picture gallery: http://www.millionaireplayboy.com/images/nycc08/index.php

And be sure to check back tommorrow for a look at Shawnimals, Dumberella, and more... even some comics!!

On a more personal note, I picked up a green glow Soopa Coin-Up Bro from ESC and have been having a blast chatting with the artists while they make their mark on it. Here are a few shots of him so far.

Lots of News from Toy Fair

So yesterday we attended the Hasbro presentation. We saw new footage of The Incredible Hulk and The Clone Wars. Both looked amazingly cool. We also got a sneak peak at some preliminary action scenes from GI-JOE. I'm a bit worried that they are taking the JOES away from what they really are.

I think Hasbro did a great job at addressing the needs of a good Indiana Jones line. I am excited to check out the 3 3/4" line as well as the 12". You will be able to send away for scale size Ark.

Last night we attended the LEGO party and got the exclusive look at the Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull sets. This included a look at the skulls themselves. I did get a scoop. There are no plans for any LEGO sets for Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. As the movies get darker, LEGO is finding it more difficult to base sets on a dark movie.

Today we checked out the Javitts Center. Mezco has some great HERO action figures. I'm not a fan of the show, but I may have to pick up the wave 3 Kristen Bell figure. That is probably as close to a Veronica Mars action figure.

Neca has a few more Harry Potter figures from Order of the Phoenix to release. After they that they are going to create figures from the previous movies. This includes a Richard Harris Dumbledore, and a second year Harry. They have begun to plan out the Half-Blood Prince figures. They will be releasing a Harry and Ginny figures. The biggest surprise was the excellent Scott Farcus sculpt from the Christmas Story.

Tomorrow we have a few appointments including DC Direct, Diamond, and Gentle Giant. Well I am 4 beers deep and Mr. Stinkhead won't keep discussing his love for Titan from American Gladiators.
